| New Fire Station in Kirkland Has Local Neighbors Questioning
The Denny Creek Neighborhood Alliance in Kirkland
Washington has been a long appointed group in the area and carries a loud voice
when it comes to protecting their community and environment. But where do
you draw the line between the two?
The non-profit organization representing Finn Hill residents
since 1993 has concerns about the proposition to build a new fire station where
Big Finn Hill Park is currently. With their mission to uphold
and protect not only the community but the natural resources of the area this
poses a dilemma for some residents. Where does protection of nature and
protection of residents come into play?
The DCNA is concerned that this may not be the best location for the new
station considering there are hiking and bike trails in the park now.
The group will be contacting the Fire District,
City of Kirkland, and King County to discuss its concerns at a
related March 8 public open house scheduled for 7 p.m. at the
Kirkland Stake Center at the corner of Juanita Drive and NE
132nd. The board encourages the community to learn more and participate. More
information will be shared by DCNA on its Web site at http://www.dennycreek.org/.
